Classy guy who actually knows what journalism means. Maybe he can go save the station he just knocked off at 5 and 10.

If his product is getting results, why let him go? Or did he resign?

I worked with Larry for a while in 2000.
He really impressed me and I had a lot of respect for the guy.

Hey, wasn't Media General the owner of WIAT?
Isn't Media General now the owner of the NBC affiliate?
Isn't that NBC affiliate currently looking for a news director?
Doesn't Media General sort of have a reputation for trying to keep their middle managers within their company and moving them around among stations they own?
Now, if this guy is a former Media General manager who took a former station to a better place in the ratings, might not Media General be very interested in getting him to jump from the station they used to own and join them at the station they own now?
So, is he going over to NBC13?

Anyone else see a pattern here??
WIAT quitters:
news director
operations manager
HR person
sales manager
Several more folks who don't have fancy titles. (You know, the ones who actually do work.)
Is it New Vision?? Or is everybody super-dedicated to MG??

There is only one position there that actually quit to stay with MG. All the other ones left because of their own reasons, some were forced out.
There are others (some on air) who are also on their way out by early next year. 2007 will be an interesting year at that shop.

Sad to see Larry go. He is definitely one of the best!
