Was wondering if any news directors/industry vets could offer up any advice for those of us currently looking for a new gig...or if anyone has any openings at their station that they are looking to fill.

Level the playing field by matching the attributes of most other successful candidates. Can you look like this?

Right - if you're still in the biz and looking for another job in the biz, do what you did before. Get your tape in shape and start getting it out there. Use your contacts. But it on Medialine. Dress like a USC cheerleader. You know, the usual stuff.

I tried the sweater/miniskirt combo. Now I'm going for the plunging neckline.

Oh...and don't forget you can always get good contacts in this business by helping promising young candidates with their tape.

Boy I dunno...I think she's Class of 2006...too old now for markets as high as Kalamazoo and Indy that hired college grads as reporters in the past year.

that news isn't particularly shocking. The business is skewing much younger these days, particularly for on-air talent.

Hmmmm. I was thinking about this today...and trying to think how to discuss the awful non politically correct truth in public.
Talent and skill don't matter, and SOMEtimes you'll find news directors and GMs, be they boy, girl, hetero-, homo-, or Tony Romo-, will hire someone they are attracted to.
And hiring cheap knows no bounds.

But seriously...if there are any NDs, assistant news directors, or EPs out there reading this, please PM me - I need some assistance regarding the old job search.

Any offers?
This is a weird thread. I mean aside from the doctored photos and the 3-year-old lame Kobe jokes. The originial post is so vague. What kind of gig? Where? What are your qualifications? Your weaknesses? What have you already tried? Didn't you get hired less than a year ago? Why are you looking already?
Hundreds of people are looking for jobs right now. Should they all vaguely post on here?
