My niece has an opportunity at a station in Eugene. However, she was offered a job over the phone, sight unseen. They are not going to fly her in for an interview or to see the station or product.
There are moving expenses, but they are minimal. That's fine, that's to be expected.
What I'd like to know is more about the market, how the three stations are rated and any info, good or bad, about the ABC affiliate and it's owner group.
Thanks

the abc station has seemed to have a lot of turnover in the last few years and some strange changing around of anchors.
the cbs station is stable, a lot of older talent and an older style
the nbc station has gotten much better over the years.
overall .. great place to live and looks more like a 90 ish market than 120 ish

I have to respectfully disagree... they look more like a 170's market than a 120's market. I say this because I worked in Eugene then took an anchor job IN a 170's market.
The ABC has had some big changes and from those I've heard from down there, they are not good changes.
The CBS has been the consistent #1 over the years because for a long time, they were the ONLY station in Eugene... the other affils came from Portland.. at least the NBC did until the mid-80's.
Speaking of the NBC, it's the dog of the market and as long as clear channel, or whatever bunch of goofs buys it, continues to own it, it will suck.
Eugene is nice, if you like spending a lot of money to live 2 hours from a real city, or if you're another transplant from the Bay Area.
Also, any shop in a market larger than 140 that hires on-air strictly by the tape and no interview... be concerned, very concerned.
