It's crap like this that gives promotions departments a bad name.

Good God.
That's who you should listen to during a tornado.
God.
Not some weather dipstick.
That promo is just plain offensive and disrepectful to humans everywhere.

OMFG!!!!
I felt like I was sitting in a really bad low-budget movie, especially when the woman said, "Listen to Gary England... he'll tell us... it's okay..."
Pathetic!!!!
EDIT TO ADD:
What promotions meeting were they sitting in, where they said this was a good idea?!?!?!

O! M! F'ing! G!
I want this jack@$$ Promotions department to know that they just helped to devalue my B.A. degree in Broadcasting with that one.

Don't blame the Promotions Dept. This spot is what happens when a station's management decides to farm out promotions to an ad agency.

Man that's bad.

I do know there was no promotions manager at the time this spot was produced. I think that's why the promo is long on production values and short on soul.

I can't wait for their promo for the health segment -- you know, where the crew rushes the cooler from the private jet to the operating room, technicians carefully remove the still beating heart, and the doctor turns on the TV to get inspiration from "Medical Reporter Suzy Goodcans" before starting the transplant!

Maybe its because I've been out of TV for a while, but I wasn't that offended by it. Yes, it was over the top, but I don't think its as bad as everyone is saying.
I'm sure I'll get crucified for this, but I don't think its not as bad as some are making it out to be.
I'm sure the viewers like it and remember it, that's what the station is going for, right?

I think the environment is ripe for their competition to rip them a new one with some clever promos of their own.

I'd want to "sell" what I know people will get from the product, rather than OVER-"sell" the product and have the consumer thinking: "this product was over-hyped."

The Daily Show did a segment on this promo in the B block Thursday night. It followed a soundbite from Senator Inhofe.

At first I thought that was a pretty cool promo, up to the "Listen to Gary England" line, and then I just groaned. That one line ruined the effect of the whole promo. Idiots.

I wouldn't expect anything else from KWTV...they live to scare the sh*t out of people. Gary England hid under his desk (while on the air) in 2003 during a tornado - yeah buddy, if that thing can rip through your building, I don't think that desk will keep you safe. Everyone in Oklahoma had a good laugh at his expense. And holy crap, I laughed my ASS off when I watched Jon Stewart's take! Freakin' brilliant!

I just had my parents watch it a few minutes ago...my mom's still laughing. My dad laughed and said, "That's what ch. 9 gets for making such a stupid commercial." Couldn't agree more...
