Where is a good place online to buy blank 15 min. VHS tapes (that are colored, not black)?
Thanks!

MediaLine's tape store has always worked for me.
The tapes are black.
The images on them are in color.

I have always just bought the 10-packs at Wal*Mart. 88 cents a piece...sometimes cheaper with sales. Not colored of course and they are two-hour tapes, but so what. It's an endless supply just down the street without having to buy in bulk and somehow store them somewhere.
I don't know where you can find colored tapes. They will probably cost a lot more than they are worth...i.e. I don't think a different-colored tape will get you a job over someone else. It's what's on the tape that matters.

I don't understand why people buy bulk 15 minute VHS tapes for resumes. Would an ND really choose a candidate because of the length of blank tape left after the resume reel?!?

Tape Stock Online (http://tapestockonline.com/) has tapes of all formats, lengths, and yes, colors!

I find that if you send a 10-15min tape the ND can look & see by just the type of tape that you didn't put 45min of dribble as your demo.
also if you send a blue, red or green (etc) tape you're gonna stand out. (granted it is a tasteful color)
plus when I've ordered 10min tapes online before it is about the same price as buying tapes from wally-world

A museum.
Right there between the 8-track tapes and Polaroid Big-Shot cameras.

15 minute tapes are an enormous waste of money. Just buy the stupid regular ones. If you really want to stand out - burn a DVD.
You really think a blue tape is going to get you a job? The ND is going to make a decision on you in the first :30 anyway.

News directors love 2 hour tapes because they get recycled for other uses.
Trust me, I've never looked at two tapes and said "Gee, this is a two hour tape...and this one is a 15 minute tape, lets look at the short one first." Nor have I picked out a yellow one first. Usually just sort them by what I'm looking for and go from there.

At my station we always preferred the 2 hour VHS tapes, so if you didn't make the cut, we could divy them up and record over them. Nowadays, we prefer DVDs with the resume tape stuff at the front, and a recent release movie following.....

Which will never get seen by 50% of the NDs because they're over 40.
