They broadcast in color.

They are affiliates of CBS, ABC, FOX and NBC.

Some of them broadcast news.

Good thing you didn't mention "the market."

I'm curious as well. What can people tell me about the Fox affiliate there. I know it's a Sinclair shop, which says a lot right there, but how are they in the ratings.

Dead last. The ABC, CBS, and NBC are excellent stations and dominate the ratings. Any other stations in the market face a serious uphill battle.

Well, let's see...

KWTV- CBS Ch. 9: Has been leading the 10 ratings for a year or so. A slower paced newscast than the others. Not so much focused on breaking news as others, but can still cover it well when needed. Good (used to be great) photography, reporters leave a little to be desired. They got rid of their best two reporters last year... which leads to most there complaining about management decisions. IMO, most of their popularity is from their weatherman.

KFOR- NBC Ch. 4: Used to be the dominant in all shows, but has been sliding for the past 2 or 3 years. Good product, faster paced and a bit more sensational, but without being obnoxious. More focused on crime stories and breaking news, but has a decent balance from time to time. IMO, the best overall staff in the market. They are in the middle of a sale though, so things may change.

KOCO- ABC Ch. 5: Was the doormat for years, but came from nowhere to win the 5 and 6 casts in Nov 06. Their 10 numbers were still half those of KFOR and KWTV, but they are gaining. By far the most sensational of the stations, obsessed with breaking news, crime and severe weather. They blow it out all the time, because they can. Very dramatic presentation, graphics driven, live everywhere for the sake of it. Product is not quite at the caliber of 4 and 9, but it's been improving.

KOKH- FOX Ch. 25: Sinclair shop, what more can I say? Do only 1.5 hours a day (9-10:30p), but are looking to expand with a morning show. They try hard, and they have a fairly good product considering, but the only time the ratings have cracked double digits is when they've had a massive lead-in (American Idol, 24, etc).

Overall, OKC is a solid market all around. I've found it has a good reputation nationwide, especially for covering spot news, earned during the 1995 Federal Building bombing and the May 1999 Super-Tornado.
