Signature on File...It wasn't a spelling error; it was, unfortunately, all too common an error -- verb didn't agree with noun. People in the news business should know better. Sorry to bust your chops on this, but I'm "old school" and a bit anal about it. Your link offered some good tips.

Alas, too few and far between...

We do, however, have a fair number of "aspiring" reporters.

Actually, you mean vulgar, not vernacular, which refers only to informal writing.
