What is the industry standard regarding short sleeves on the set? Are they ok to wear?

Never never never!I think if a reporter is in the field on a warm or hot day in one of those short sleeved blazers, it's fine, but otherwise, no way. And don't tag team the short sleeved blazer with those nasty matching gauchnos or whatever they have out now in sets, it looks like you're pretending to be an adult going to work.

It's okay in AZ. I see it all the time.

Are there really men who wear a short sleeved blazer? Sounds kinda funny lookin' to me.

I think the original question was from a news girl. Short sleeves are okay in hot weather unless you are at a really conservative station. Sleeveless is usually a no-no. Oh, try to avoid shorter sleeves if your arms are fat. That just looks all ew.

No.
3/4 sleeves are as short as I'm willing to go. I just don't think short sleeves look professional on air.

Ignore every answer that doesn't take your audience and location in to account.

If you have to ask, then its wrong. On some level you know that it is not right if you are uncomfortable enough to seek out someone elses support.

She never mentioned short sleeve SUITS. She inquired about short sleeves.

He looked like any other businessman except that he was wearing shorts. With a coat and tie.
WTF?

Hey -- that'd work for me! I might actually even wear a tie.

I live in a pretty warm climate and when it's summer, I just wear a short sleeve shirt or 3/4 length sleeve shirt in the field. When I go on air or shoot a stand up, I put my jacket on. Easy solution. On-air, always, long sleeves is the standard and professional answer.

it all depends on your story. if you're reporting live from a beach, a festival or a corn field, perhaps a station polo type shirt would work. that's the general rule at my station. look professional, but dress to your story. in the studio, long sleeves always. just my two cents.
