Agent Contracts

For those who have signed a contract with an agent ... Have you had a lawyer look at the contract before signing on the dotted line? Or are those contracts usually simple enough where it's not necessary?

Absolutely have an experienced attorney look at any agent contract. They are often more dangerous than a standard employment contract because of how long - and under what circumstances - they may require you to continue paying commission.

I went through four drafts with my former agent before I felt comfortable signing with them. It protected me and I was able to easily get out of it when I found out how crummy they were. Get it proofed from our lawyer friend here.
