I'm considering going the MAC route for makeup. Anyone have any pros/cons of the brand?

Good stuff... Use the "studio fix" to get rid of shine under the lights. It's a powder foundation that takes all of 15 seconds to apply... And if you're a guy, it's all you need.

make sure you go to the Mac web site and dl the form for a talent discount. You just have to provide a copy of your drivers license and work ID.

I've heard it makes some people break out. That said, I've been using MAC for years and while I had a problem with breakouts at the beginning, I don't any more. It's very important to make sure you get it all off when you wash your face -- use makeup remover and then face wash.
Also, the Studiofix can gum up if you have oily patches. Either blot the oil off with a Kleenex before, or better yet, use a powder brush to apply it instead of the sponge that comes with it.
It's great for coverage and there's a wide range of colors, so I'd think most skin tones would match something in the Studiofix line.
If you do decide to use MAC, use the heavier Studiofix lines and the such. Some of the liquid foundations and lighter concealers don't provide enough coverage for TV.

Studio Fix is definitely the way to go. Go to a department store that offers it and have them choose the color that is right for you. After that, you can order online at www.maccosmetics.com. (http://www.maccosmetics.com.)
I'm a guy, it truly DOES take 15 seconds to get a good even coverage.I am inherently oily and I do need to powder in the mornings after about an hour. I just use the standard 'coverguy' line of powders, nothing too expensive, I'm just taking away the shine. Oil from your face transferred to the sponge will muck-up the makeup a bit. Make sure your face is clean (oil-free) before application (always moisturize, of course). I may try using a brush sometime...although I would imagine that would take me a little longer.
Never had a breakout problem and I usually am not THAT good about THOROUGHLY cleansing after wearing. I wash with facial soap and a washcloth and I seem to always have residual makeup on my face (can tell usually after a nose blow). SO even with this leftover on my face, I still have no problems.

I use the MAC Studio stuff. I like it. Sometimes I wear it when I am not working. (Just joking, right?)
As far as cleaning is concerned...I used to have Waco's problem. But then I started getting MAC's cleanser. It works great...and I have no residual makeup after I wash. I forget the name...but it comes in a small white bottle, and the soap is kind of a greenish hue. I also use the MAC face wipes.
Edit: I am stupid. Typo.

the MAC wipes are the BEST! one wipe, and the makeup's off! well worth it.

I'm not on air, but I've use Mac and LOVE IT. A little goes a long way with it though, and I'd reccomend going to an actual Mac store (not just a counter in Daytons or Nordstroms) and having someone there color match you for your skin and eyes.

I agree. Studio Fix is great. It's one of the only brands that DOESN'T cause me to break out.

Does anyone use Studio Tech? That's what I always used - it's not a creme to powder finish but it's a nice silky layer as you go creme foundation.

Hate the stuff (MAC - that is). It makes me break out big time, and I don't even have sensitive skin - normally. I'm much happier with Clinique (also more affordable:). Happy cosmetics hunting!
