Should you put anchor intros on a reporter resume tape?

Just wondering if it's better to leave the anchor intro off a reporter resume tape. Usually, my intros include important information, but I'm wondering if I should still chop them off.

I'd take them off.

the tape should sell YOU, not someone else.

a simple list of what's on the tape (ie, pkg on illegal immigrants, pkg on 1-legged skier) included in the box should suffice.

Two lines of thought:

1. Including the anchor intro helps the ND or GM understand your story better

2. Including the anchor intro gives the ND or GM someone else to consider instead of you.

I agree with the previous poster. The resume video should focus on YOU and You alone.

Use packages on your tape that don't suffer with a lack of anchor intro. It's tricky because the intro is a very important part of the story. It sets it all up; begins it. That said, some packs can still be seen as complete stories without the intro. Those are the ones to put on your tape - or those with an on-set or live remote intro done by you. Even better.

I think you should use a snippet of it if it can sell you,

ie, 10 pm live shot..."Jo(e) Reporter has been following the case since it broke at 6 this morning" - you've been on the story for 16 hours...you know it better than anyone and you're the go-to person for the full story.

But otherwise, I'd avoid it. I have heard of someone getting a job off of being on someone else's resume tape.

Intro's are very important...BUT!....I was always told a great story/pkg can stand alone from start to finish. Leave off the Anchor intro(IMHO).

The beginning of the story is the intro by the anchor, the middle is the PKG and the end is the tag. All a PKG oes now is serve as a bridge between a talking head.

For a live story, A ND or EP is going to want to see live cross-talk between the reporter and anchor (even if it's just a toss). So you might was well leave it on, since you'll have to show the cross-talk anyway.

If you're including a non-live story, no reason to put the intro on it.
