Contessa Brewer, "interviewing" a NASA guy on MSNBC about tonight's Discovery launch:

CB: "What are the astronauts doing right now?"

NASA Guy (Surprised): "Um..... I'd guess, sleeping."

CB: "They're probably being woken up now by people saying, 'There's a girl on TV talking about you now, get up and watch.'"

NASA Guy: (awkward silence)

CB: "Do you think that ever happens?"

(more silence)

NASA Guy (stunned): "Uhhh.... do I think what ever happens?"

CB: "That they ever get woken up to watch cable news."

NASA Guy: "Ummmm.... I hope not."

As cool as it is to be on cable news, I bet it's cooler to fly on the space shuttle. I think they win.

You're both wrong. The coolest job in the world is Vice President of the United States. Nice salary, free house, health care, pampering, perks....and you do have to do anything, except breathe! ;)

(And no, this is not political. I've though this for years, no matter who is in power).

Now I'm just a simple caveman, not used to your sophisticated ways - Okay I'm a director and not a writer - but, isn't "woken up" grammatically incorrect. Shouldn’t it be "awakened" (irrespective of the appropriateness of the question)?

yes, it should.

I just quoted what she said.

Pro is partly correct. VP's also get to go hunting in a drunken stupor and shoot people in the face and get away with it...

They also get to be on the payroll of Halliburton and funnel contracts in Halliburton's direction....

"What a country!"

I remember back a few years ago, one of our twinkies interviewed a NASA astronaut. One of her questions was "So, do you guys orbit the earth, or, like, go to other planets, or what?"

No bull****.

That's a total of 596 elected officials in Washington, DC.

Only two of them get free housing.

That's 0.3%, three tenths of a percent of the elected politicians in DC. No matter how you try to twist it, that is NOT "most."
