What do you guys think of companies designed to help you look for a job?

For example, headhunting agencies like Broadcast Image, and tape making companies like Talent Tapes?

Talent Tapes charges nearly $300 for a package, and I'm wondering if it's worth it.

Thanks!

I would only recommend using a demo-company only if you have no other alternative. If you're going to ... I would recommend Bob Hillman at Career Videos. He's the best in the business but not cheap. I used him and thinks he's great.

Another alternative is to intern at a small market station. Usually you get enough work to put your own tape together. Good luck!

If you already have a tape, send it to Talent Dynamics, BIG, or MAgid. They show your tape to NDs for free. It's a great way to get a first look, but they won't "sell" your talent to a station. Also, the headhunters can give you some pointers on what to include or delete from the tape - but you have to take the initiative and call them to ask for the advice.
I have used all three, and they are all a big plus. It's cheaper than an agent, and most agents end up sending your tape to the headhunters anyway.
