Does anyone know anything about this station? I tend to stay away from 24 hour local news stations, and I am wondering if this station would be any different (i.e. is it good, a station you would want to work for, people are happy there, quality news content, etc.)

It's Allbritton. These guys make Fox news look balanced. In 2000 they made stations in Little Rock and Harrisburg, PA endorse Bush. Their president is a former Reagan aide and is head of the Reagan library.

So the right's got Albritton and the left has NBC.

I've seen some good cable operations and some bad ones. Most of the good ones are tied in with an affiliate station in the city (NECN in Boston is in with the ABC station there, same with NWCN and the NBC in Seattle)...

NewsChannel 8 is not one of them... and saying that it's top 100 payscale is being too generous.

well newschannel 8 is tied in with WJLA-TV, the abc affiliate.

Seriously just because O'Reilly says NBS leans left doesn't make it so. But Joe Allbritton making his GM's do editorial endorsements pretty much seals the deal.

I used to live in DC AND NC8 has lotta union problems b/c Allbrighton pays WJLA & NC8 the same. Both sides want different payscales/compensation, personally I would post this question in DCRTV.com or hit their archive page for info on Newschannel 8. They're definately not ran by Bright House Networks, that's for sure.

Looking for a job at local cable news is kind of like being a stripper. Always assume everyone wants to screw you, and will treat you like a piece of meat. graemlins/eusa_shifty.gif

Both JLA and NC8 are in Rosslyn, VA, 2 minutes outside of "DC". The payscale for the most part is not the same between the two, NC8 pays like a 50-60's market, while JLA pays pretty much the market medium.
